The Campaign for Amber Street Lights

“Done well, LEDs could save the planet, in the sense of reigning in light pollution. Done carelessly, it could be devastating.” John Barentine, resident physical scientist for the International Dark-Sky Association

Blue-rich bright-white LED street lights are known to be harmful to biological organisms. They are unfriendly, unnatural and unpopular. All over the world people are complaining about their installation. Our ‘comments’, ‘articles’ and ‘videos’ sections lay out the case against them.

The Campaign

Our aim is to persuade local councils and city authorities to phase out over-bright blue-rich streetlights as they reach the end of their natural life and replace them with lighting more sympathetic to the environment, the wildlife, the night-sky and human beings, and to do this in consultation with the people who have to live under them.
